No guarantee
The information appearing on this site is provided to you "AS IS," without any warranty of any kind, and no warranty, express or implied, is offered as to the accuracy or completeness of this information. The Association accepts no responsibility for any errors or omissions. You also acknowledge and agree that the Association is not liable for any damages resulting from computer or communication malfunctions.
Protection of personal information
The Association takes the protection of your personal information very seriously and, unless otherwise stated, does not automatically collect specific information about you, such as your name, telephone number, or email address. You can therefore browse this website without providing us with any personal data. However, the Association can only obtain this type of information if you provide it, for example, in an email or by filling out an online form. Consequently, at each online data entry point—that is, the registration form to become a member of the Association, online registration for Association activities, or posting a message in the visitor log—you will be informed, before any information is collected about you, of the purposes for which this information is being collected.
The Association has the utmost respect for privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information provided to it by visitors to its website. In any event, the Association is subject to the rules set forth in Quebec Civil Code, more specifically articles 35 to 41.
Conservation, use and communication
The personal information you provide to the Association will only be used for the service it is intended to provide. For example, the information new members provide on the registration form regarding their ancestry (i.e., parents, grandparents) will be used to update the Genealogical Dictionary – The Descendants of Lazare Bolley. Your name, mailing address, and telephone number provided upon registration or renewal will be used to send you a printed copy of the newsletter "Le Bolley" and to contact you as needed. Your membership number, full name, and place of residence (city and/or province, as applicable) will be added to the Association's membership list, which is published in the last annual (winter) issue of the newsletter "Le Bolley." The list includes the names of members who have paid their annual or lifetime dues, as well as the names of honorary members.
The Association has published a genealogical database on its website – Artilleryman Lazare Bolley – which compiles data on more than 10 generations of Beaulé families in America, from 1782 to the present day, representing over 5,000 Beaulé names. To protect the confidentiality of certain information gathered on members of the Beaulé families in America, no birth dates or photographs are displayed for individuals under 100 years of age or who have been deceased for less than 30 years. Only the year of birth is shown for these individuals. However, the date of death is included. Furthermore, those wishing to access the complete database must request it. Other website visitors will only see the first six generations.
We will not use or disclose your personal information for purposes other than those identified in this document or at the time of collection. We will not sell, share, or otherwise distribute your personal information to third parties, except as described in this document. We may occasionally share your personal information with third parties or service providers acting on our behalf in connection with the association's community activities, particularly when participant identification is required to confirm their participation in such activities.
The Association takes appropriate security measures to ensure the protection of the personal information it collects, uses, discloses, stores, and destroys. Furthermore, only authorized personnel within the Association whose duties require it may access members' personal data, i.e., date of birth, address, financial information, etc. This information is stored in locked filing cabinets.
Right to delete and correct
Visitors have the right to request the correction or deletion of personal data about themselves or their family that is available or accessible on this website, i.e., the database, the membership list, etc. Of course, the right to deletion cannot be granted for personal data that has been obtained from public records or published in journals (for example, the "Bolley" newsletter) or made public in the media.
To request the correction or deletion of data, users must submit their request either by email or in writing to the Association of Descendants of Lazare Bolley Inc., which will review their request. The Association reserves the right, if it deems it necessary, to request proof of identity before proceeding with any correction or deletion of data.
It is important to emphasize that if the Association corrects or deletes data that was accessible or available on its website, it is possible that copies of this information may remain accessible elsewhere if such copies have been shared with other users and have been recorded.
